On the Farm

Growing wise at this time of the year there’s not much to report. After the Autumn sowing we have to be patient and let nature look after things for a while although keeping the pigeons and other uninvited guests at bay can be quite time consuming!

Rainfall (or lack of it) still remains a concern but we keep optimistic (and our fingers crossed!)

Our GLUTEN FREE OAT crop is selling really well and we have planned for a bigger volume for this years’ harvest to satisfy the growing demand. The new Oat Mill too is working very well and hardly seems to stop!

Launch of our Gluten Free Beer

We have been planning a Gluten Free beer for quite some time now so we are delighted to announce that it is now available! “PATHFINDER” Gluten Free Beer has been named to honour the famous Pathfinder Squadrons whose wartime HQ was at RAF Wyton just yards from our own land. “One of the best Gluten Free beers I have tasted” was the report back from Zak Avery (previous British Beer Writers’ Guild “Beer Writer of the Year” winner) so getting the taste right has certainly been worth the wait.

New Cider

We are now also involved with Cambridgeshire Cider! Or “SIDE-R” as we have branded it! We have been supplying “real” farmhouse style Ciders to the local pubs and some Beer festivals over the past few months and there seems to be quite a demand. We have had a Medium Dry style and a Dry style. In fact the Dry Side-R achieved a third place at the East Anglian Cider competition as part of the Norwich Beer festival a couple of months ago which we are very pleased about. Watch this space for news of a bottled sparkling version (due to be available in February 2012) and hopefully fruit varieties available in the future too.

Shows

We will be out and about quite a bit this year. Please see “events page” on our website homepage, but will include…

Ellsmere Port Coeliac Show

Natural and Organics Show Olympia

BBC Good Food show at the NEC in June, to name just a few!

Also, Glebe Farm will be the venue for a charity Hog Roast in aid of Cancer Relief. Entertainment will be courtesy of a great Irish Band and if last year was anything to go by, this is an event not to be missed! We sold 200 tickets last year so don’t delay in getting yours for this year. Tickets are £20.00 per person and further information (and tickets) are available from Lorraine on 07795 617625
